fyi beer. tihkainov and tarasov boith said their "system" came from watching the fifties and sixties montreal canaadiens. puck control hockey. worked better in europe and international play because there the goon hockey of the nhl was illegal. worked great for les glorieux when they had enforcers to best the crap out of the goons. john fergeson never lost a fight(including beating gordie howe) and ted harris was feared for his hits. then the next generation larry robinson could break the board with a hip check to an opposition player. (and lapointe was only a little less gentle) when the seventies canadiens broke the flyers that is exactly what happened. larry robinson broke the boards with garry dornhoffer and those broad street bullies lost their courage thereafter. but robinson did it clean while they were the dirtiest team in history. the old toronto maple leafs the second most dirty. then the bruins. | |||
