I only have ever heard this by Phil on the In Concert album. I am sure there are other recordings of him doing it as has been stated by others. The very best performance I have heard of When I'm Gone was done by Kim and Reggie Harris at Old Songs a few years ago. For the basic guitarist this is one of Phil's more accessible collection of chords. To my mind he could be quirky and his melodies were not always easy to sus out. But this song is one of the perfect ones. Don Meixner
