A few years ago I took my daughter to Womad and spent so much I should have had a sponsor's marquee erected. Shortly after we went to see Man City women play Chelsea women at Staines FC's ground. Entrance couldn't have been more than a fiver (I think it was £3), and kids get in for nowt, a burger and a brew cost £2.50. And the football was of a high standard. And if we'd have brought a ball, City's players would have signed it (OK, I knew our reserve goalkeeper, but it was a friendly atmosphere). If you like footy (and, fair enough, it's not the superior 13-a-side code), women's football is well worth watching, and won't break the bank.
