Only a hundred or so pages into this enthralling book. I had hilarious moments reading Amazon reviews (especially liking the bemused one that thought folk music was something that happened in the 60s) but have also liked the misinfo and skewed ideas on the various threads here. I love the above from one contributor above asking about Rolf (father of John Eliot) Gardiner and being assured he makes no appearance. I found the long piece on him fascinating, as was the section on the between-the-wars classical composers search for a British art music 'voice' through folk music. Now back to the reading....
