Btw, in the 1980s, I encountered the tail-end of an English-language ballad tradition among Scottish-Metis in Manitoba, including Barbara Allan, Gay Spanish Maid, Lake of Coolfinn(?), and others, among songs and ballads with North American origins. Anne Lederman would have recorded more of this than I did; presumably she had these archived somewhere official. |
