It's been lovely to celebrate 50 years since the release of Anthems in Eden this week, but today marks a much sadder anniversary - Dolly Collins passed away on 22 September 1995. One of her final works was a complete arrangement for John Gay's The Beggar's Opera. An earlier prototype, The Beggar's Opera Medley (unfortunately mis-titled on Youtube), can be found on Shirley and Dolly's final LP, For As Many As Will. As well as Dolly's gorgeous arrangements and Shirley's own regal vocals, it's very touching to hear Dolly herself singing here too (plus Barry Dransfield). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQU2uPucTUM
