I can date this one with accuracy. January 16 1974,my 21st birthday. It had been arranged that I would meet Ewan and Peggy Seeger off a train at Exeter for a concert that night in Saint Lukes College.However,after lunchtime celebration,I was well refreshed and too drunk to walk.Iwas put to bed at the pub and Ewan and Peggy got to the venue by taxi,I think.I arrived at the venue with five minutes to go, effusive and desperate with apologies.I remember, clearly,how magnanimous and self effacing he was over my failing.
