My first varifocals were the cheapest type. I got used to them quite quickly. Two years later I went for the more expensive kind and took to wearing glasses all the time. Two years after that I went back to single vision lenses. My problem with varifocals came with using a computer. With near vision at the bottom of the varifocal lense I had to lean my head right back to read text on a screen. I keep a single vision distance pair in my car for driving and a near vision on my desk in case I need it but most of the time now I don't wear glasses at all. I've just ordered glasses online, cheapest frame, cheapest lense no expensive coatings. These will be for driving only with the most recent prescription. Time will tell if I've decided well.
