The thread about a hermit on the road started me thinking about this song, but I don't think it's the one they wanted. Tis song was sung by dolly parton and I can only remember a couple bits. Its about meating an old man while walking down a road. Presumably the old man is Jesus. The chorus is something about how silver and gold don't by a home in heaven. The melody sounds like an appalation sort of tune I think.
