Florida Man Hunting Iguanas With Pellet Guns Puts Two Schools on Lockdown A man hunting iguanas with pellet guns led to two schools going into lockdown in Charlotte County on Tuesday afternoon, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office says. According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, an armed man was seen near Vineland Elementary School, 467 Boundary Blvd., at about 3:30 p.m. The school and nearby L.A. Ainger Middle School were put on lockdown. Within minutes a 35-year-old man was found and detained. The lockdowns were lifted. The man told deputies he had been hired to remove invasive iguanas from the area and was carrying two pellet guns. Deputies told the man about the proper procedures to take before hunting and released him. ****************************************************************** Moral of the story? Don't be brandishin' yer Red Ryder near a schoolyard without permission.
