I read somewhere that some country did run out of toilet paper a few years ago, but dunno how that became a current crisis in other countries.

We keep being reminded that while the Australian manufacturing industry sector is pitifully small these days, we do manufacture our own toilet paper, but folks do still buy & buy & buy ...

A nearby council saved a lot of money a few years by buying zillions of rolls of a new cheaper brand of loo paper. I call it half ply & it is so delicate it can't go in the toilet roll holders as it only comes out in tiny shreds, not sheets or even lengths! So it is used up much faster & all rolls in the Community Centre women's loos were stolen by someone recently.

Only bright spot is the number of cartoons about loo paper.
