To be fair there's some wonderful US craft beers, so much so that pretty much every craft brewery in the UK does its own version of an American IPA (IPA stands for India Pale Ale - it was traditionally heavily hopped as a preservative for export, the US version takes it to the extreme). Might be a shock to the system though if your usual tipple is Bud! LFF
