Somebody said they had heard a recording of a woman blues singer doing a field holler. But I don't know who it was, or even if this information is right. I have seen these referred to in the literature, but cannot find information about whether any were recorded, and if so, the dates of the recordings. Mudcat seems as good a place as any to ask whether people can provide more detail. I searched using the facility but could not find anything. For anybody who does not know, the term refers to 'hollers' or 'calls' made by African Americans working in the fields, and the sound has been said to be one of the many elements that went into the mix that became 'the blues'. Thank you in advance for your help. Stay safe, everybody.
