I think the Mennonites count as a bona fide denomination - they have proper hymnbooks and all. And show me a church/religion that has not had hidden child abuse at some time or another. Cults have peculiar attitudes to policing the boundaries between them and the world outside, seeking to prevent members leaving, unless they seek to expel them and cut them off from their friends and relations.
