My brother started playing the pipes at the age of eight. By age 11, he was blowing the full set and generating massive racket in the house each day when practising, and in his teens it got really intrusive as he started playing in a band and advanced to big music.

You don't want to be trying to do your maths homework at the dining room table while somebody is learning a pibroch in the next room and is having a hard time with his bass drone. You really don't.
