Ha Raggytash, or perhaps they eat too many prunes? Jos, we used to cut newspaper into squares and hang them on a nail for toilet paper, before Izal/Bronco shiny paper arrived. No 'soft tissue' for us then! (I seem to remember Izal had 'Now wash your hands' printed on each sheet.) Good for tracing paper and comb-and-paper kazoos. In Greece, in the sixties, most little B&B-type 'pensions' were on septic tank systems, and one was asked to put used (!) toilet paper in a plastic basket beside the toilet. In that heat it absolutely stank.
