Yes Joe appeared at Barnsley folk club a number of times over the years at different venues
He also did Probus talks on McCarthy era singers in the US ~ he came to Barnsley YMCA where I was a regular snooker player: ~ as I was locking the car park he drove into the entrance ~ I was amazed to see Joe and he said that he was the guests speaker ~ I introduced myself ~ he thought I was Eric Pressley ~ I know Eric btw ~ he did know me by sight ~ I wasn't a Probus member!
I let into the carpark and we chatted later briefly he lived at Hebden Bridge at the time
He also came to the club as part of KImber's men and guested at Cleckheaton ff ~I mceed latterly
