Mo- isn't that what traditional music is about? Passing an 1893 composition down through the generations? The 'Old Armchair' is another example, from an even earlier date & my uncle Bob's party piece 'The Spaniard who blighted my life' (1910) is another. Some songs are identified by the tradition & need little help to become part of it! Folk song collectors did not approve, and were very selective in what they recorded, but it never stopped these old 'popular' songs being passed on.
