In Ken Burns’ documentary on Country Music, in the second episode on Jimmie Rodgers, at one point the background music is: “I’d rather drink muddy water, sleep in a hollow log...,” lyrics The Dead incorporated when they sang IKYR as a stand alone (acoustic) song. I assume the voice is Rodgers, who died in 1928 I cannot find any reference to these lyrics on the Net to these lyrics other than in GD material, nor does this thread mention a Rodgers recording. Fascinating history
