"If Georgia can make progress, can Alabama be far behind?? Oh... maybe that's too much to hope for..." Bill D, have you ever been to Alabama? I mean for a long time, like two weeks? I bet not. My husband worked in rural Alabama for months and months, and he found most people there to be gentle, unsophisticated and friendly. Like many rural Americans, they are poor, looked down on, don't know how to get out of poverty, and are beset by alcohol, meth and opioids. Small wonder that a wiley politician with a captive TV network promised them salvation and they believed it. Remarks like yours only make the situation worse.
