At my scouting we sang a version that goes:

I had a little drink about an hour ago
And I want right to my bed

(pampampam pam pam pam pampampam pam pam pam)
[Repeat faster and faster]

Melody is slightly different from the original as well, generally all of the lines end on a high note. This is/was sung as the last song, while the lyric books are collected, so that might be why it has changed.
And then this verse is just repeated faster and faster until no one can keep up, and then we had to go to bed..
