Hank Aaron's biographer found Mr. Aaron to be a very hard sell about authorizing the writing of a biography -- he had been through too much, some of it from the press, not to have got burned and become extremely wary. As the journalist persisted, and the two became friends, over time, the negativity passed but the modesty and decency stayed the same. The biographer worked out a contract and made an offer, and when receiving the offer, Hank Aaron asked politely: "How many pages will it be?" (from an ESPN article)
