Another Jean Redpath story; I was at a concert she gave in Dunfermline some years ago, when she started to sing “Auld Lang Syne” to the older tune. To her surprise, a lot if the audience joined in; “Oh, you know that one.” said she. And as for things that annoy you, as well as pronunciation of Syne, there is the frequently mis-placed ( or even unnecessary) apostrophe that is so often seen (though fortunately not on this thread) in descriptions or advertisements for events celebrating the bard. Burn’s - never ever ever!!
