I interviewed various members of the Animals and also met Spencer Davis on the same gig, this was in conjunction with the BBC. I spent sometime talking to the original drummer John Steele, and Alan Price's original replacement Dave Rowberry. Spencer Davis dedicated a Muddy Waters Blues song to me publicly that night. I also saw Eric Burdon at the Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival. He was stunning, and took my mind off the fact that my Van had been written off in an accident.
The Animals were years ahead of their time and Hilton Valentine's guitar riff set me off playing guitar in 1963. Loads of memories.
RIP Hilton Valentine and thank you.
