Bobby Casey came up to the Northeast in the late 60s after we met him at the 'Favourite' pub and invited him to bring a trio. He chose to come with the aforementioned Tommy McCarthy on pipes- Tommy Maguire on accordion made up the trio. They played a couple of clubs, including our Marsden Inn, but Bobby had a cousin who was a builder in Gateshead & a wonderful party was held there- I took a fancy to one jig he played & asked its name. 'Jasus I don't know, but I'm opening a bottle of wine just now, so we'll call it the 'Corkscrew' I've done that ever since. I agree that Dermot Kearney is the man to talk to- or you might get more clues from his notes to the CD he did of Bobby some years ago?
