Lighter The Singing Sailor (Lloyd/MacColl/Corbett) (13) RE: The Singing Sailor (Lloyd/MacColl/Corbett) 13 Mar 21

I'll go further: I think Corbett's "Blow the Man Down" the best single revivalist chantey performance of the 1950s, and possibly ever. Perfect pacing, believable style.

Both those albums are extraordinary. Beware covers and imitations.

(Blow Boys Blow and A Sailor's Garland are nearly as splendid.)
