My mother discovered quite early on how to ‘discipline’ me, after my father had died, when I was eight. If I was particularly naughty she would play The Little Boy that Santa Claus Forgot. The lines ‘I’m so sorry for that laddie, He hasn’t got a daddy. The little boy that Santa Claus forgot’, were guaranteed to make me cry. I’ll never forgive her for that.
