I just read down this thread for the first time since it was put up.
I was a member of Cyril's club for a couple of years when I lived in Plymouth, and I once asked him what he thought of the Young Tradition's way of holding that note. He replied that he didn't care, "Just as long as they sing it."

By the way, Cyril had been a 'Tiffy,' an Engine Room Artificer, he told me.

Ashore, and out of the service, Rabbitting is usually incessant talking, as used by Chas and Dave in their song 'Rabbit.'
