I'm curious if anyone has transcribed these songs and stories into 'standard' English. They are difficult to read and enjoy in the dialect. Modern readers do not need someone belaboring each sound phonetically, they can just imagine a good film actor portraying Uncle Remus, and let the story stand on its own without the phonics drama.
