The eruption is still going on. So far there have been 9 vents, but at present only number 5 is still erupting. This segment of 60 Minutes gives an overview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LI8Gcpawvo They say the lava is coming from 9 miles down. And they pronounce it: GELL ding a dahl er. The G is hard. (Wikipedia says the nearby Meradalir is the valley of the mares. Is Geldingadalir the valley of the geldings? No one says.) I have watched a lot of video of volcanoes, and almost all of it shows a volcano's peak as seen from a distance. With this volcano, we see so many parts of the process - the fountains, the lava rivers, the cooling beds, the lava emerging from the base of the cone, sections of the cone breaking off and plunging back into the pool of lava to be melted again. Few volcanoes have been studied in such loving detail.
