The version I heard was from the hammered dulcimer player Jim Couza and is very slightly different. I think it scans and rhymes better. I met a girl at a folk club As you do, as you do I bought her a drink and I asked her her name Wouldn't you, wouldn't you? And when the gig was over she said "Come back to my place I think you and I we have similar tastes" Then she played me every record that Tom Paxton ever made And you know that was the last thing on my mind.
