When were railways built in LA - the swampy one with prairies? The reason I ask is because various versions refer to ride the rods which is an expression that Woody Guthrie would have used. Least ways Derrol Adams (legendary Banjo Player from Portland Oregon) said so. We could give an approximate earliest date for any iteration with rails etc in it. FWIW I always imagined it was referencing the civil war with money here no good. Who knows about Jackson Town - if it was newly founded it would be pretty small after 3 years, IMHO the civil war dates would see it much larger. Would the subject find work in a new town better than an established one? And I refer back to the railroads of LA. Which begs the question, when did states begin being referred to by two letter abbreviations?
