David Lee Frishberg the noted jazz pianist and one of the cleverest lyricists of recent times, has passed after a long illness. He is more widely known among the public for many works he was involved with such as Schoolhouse Rock ("I'm Only a Bill") and a few of his more idiosyncratic songs ("My Attorney Bernie" and "Van Lingle Mungo"). I never saw him perform but my brother the musician was well informed and covered some of his works for performance. There is much more to the body of work and long musical involvement of this very gifted musician and singer. I heard of this yesterday announced by Terry Gross on Fresh Air who said she would have a commemorative show on him in the future.
