"Courier-Jounal (Louisville, Ky.) (May 21, 1866), p.1: “My stay in ‘Hell on the Wabash,’ as railroad men facetiously term Logansport [Ind.] was brief." Another (or the same) tune was played during the Civil War as "Hell on the Potomac."
