'I think it does, because 'Lord Franklin' is not a natural evolution but a modern compilation, albeit derived from traditional sources.' I agree with Michael here. There's nothing wrong with anybody singing Bert's version, but if we're looking at the song in a historical context then we need to be sure what belongs to the period, and what is a 1950s concoction. Bert's passing it off as 'Trad.' for copyright purposes doesn't alter that.
