Joe, I've looked at your Corrected Version / Needs Work of My Dear Companion, dated 04 Nov 05 - 12:44 AM, and I've listened to the recording on the Mountain Born album, and I only find a very few spots where I hear something a little different from what you posted.

1st stanza. 3rd line, I hear "I hear he's gone over to some far country"

2nd stanza, 1st line, I hear "I wisht I were some swallow flying"

4th stanza, 4th line, I hear "And there I'll sit me down and weep"
