Zorro, I just spent 20 minutes transposing the verses from a Kingston Trio recording. How dare you beat me to the thread! Pretty soon, you'll be like Joe Offer and have women chasing you on the 'Cat The song was recorded by the Calypsonians on February 10, 1957. They eventually evolved into the Kingston Trio They learned the song from a group called the Easy Riders. It was written by Terry Gilkyson. It appeared on the Kingston Trio's first album appropriately called "The Kingston Trio on Capital T/DT 996 released on June 2, 1958. Roger in Baltimore
