I don't know ... this latest royal visit - Charles and Camilla in Canada, that is - is finally putting me off the whole monarchy thing. I've been switching to American news the last few nights to avoid the stomach-churning sight of all the fawning and gushing. While I do like the ambiguity of our Constitutional Monarchy, the idea of having any future governmental figures or new citizens swearing loyalty to the Windsors seriously rubs me the wrong way. I'd like to maintain some kind of vague connection to the Crown, but as for the Royals - I've had quite enough of them, thank you.
