What disturbs me is that anti-monarchist arguments are, all too often, not concerned with making life better for anyone, but making it worse for a handful of people who for historical reasons, neither merit nor fault of their own, find themselves in a privileged position. Levelling down doesn't necessarily lead to levelling up. Like Bill D, I can see both sides. However, for the last couple of centuries the monarchy has (mainly) worked well, and my inclination is to follow the principle of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
