KATIE AND THE DREAMTIME LAND by Eric Bogle

This should be pretty close. A few of the words (?) were hard for me to pick up from the recording.

The dusty miles we've come today, we're weary, hard and (long?)
But all that lies behind us now as we lift our voice in song
The joy of good companionship is written on each face
But, for me, around the fire tonight there is an empty space

Oh I know you would have loved it Kate, beneath these Southern stars
As the night was filled with music, sweet songs and soft guitars
And the faces in the fire light of those so dearly loved
With the dreamtime land beneath my feet and infinity, infinity above

And I sang Cornflower Blue and thought of you

There used to be a garden here when the dreamtime land was young
And all creation bloomed and grew when the dreamtime songs were soung
The children of the dreaming have long since been swept aside
And with no one to sing the dreamtime songs the garden slowly died

And I sang Cornflower Blue and thought of you

For dreams can crumble into dust, they never ride the (wind?)
And loving hearts can turn to stone if they never learn to sing
Into the desert of my soul your songs fell like gentle rain
So I join you, Kate, in the dreamtime song til the garden blooms again
Oh I know you would have loved it Kate, beneath these Southern stars
As the night was filled with music, sweet songs and soft guitars
And the faces in the fire light of those so dearly loved
With the dreamtime land beneath my feet and infinity, infinity above

And I sang Cornflower Blue and thought of you

Now if someone can provide the chords....

Dan ^^
