Strictly a digression, of course, to dwell on
Joe Biden in the Middle East, on a T***p thread.
In response, however, to Donuel's 1:30 pm post:

In researching the Baha'i faith, I found myself reading a feature article about the city of Haifa, where this Iran-born religion, the newest neighbor on the proverbial block, has its headquarters in exile, so to speak (in its native Iran, being Baha'i can get you thrown in prison).
The Haifa natives, speaking respectfully of the world-famed Baha'i terraced gardens on the slope of Mt. Carmel there,
compared their city with places like Jerusalem.
And their take on the so-called Holy City sounded like this:

"Haifa is a normal place with normal people.
Jesus did not set foot here.
Moses did not set foot here.
Muhammad did not visit here.
Therefore, there is no violence or conflict or war here.
We all get along with each other,
it does not matter who is Jewish, Christian, or Muslim."

Others begged to differ.
Accounts exist, ruefully humorous, regarding the 1900's when the Baha'i Gardens with their shrines were dominating Haifa;
and one Palestinian Christian, with an animus against the Baha'is,
displayed an enormous lit-up cross on top of his house.
It just made people smile and shake their heads . . .
