Smedley - PM Date: 02 Jan 10 - 10:19 AM Thanks to Simon & Garfunkel's enunciation, as a kid I always thought the second line of Scarborough Fair was "Parsley, saydrels, merry and thyme". For years I assumed saydrels and merry were obscure varieties of herb. I always took it as Parsley, Sage rows, Mary & Thyme I rather like 'saydrel' though. [now if I ever sing it I put the first syllables on the beat and make a point of taking a breath before 'rosemary']
