From 1603 to 1707, the monarch held the titles of King/Queen of Scotland and King/Queen of England. After the Act of Union in 1707, the title was Queen/King of the Great Britain. In 1801 it became the King/Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. After partition, it became the King/Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. This is the title that King Charles III holds, along with that of 14 other Commonwealth realms. DC
