Perhaps this should be a new thread, but I added here instead because there is already so much info here (which I don't have time to read, unfortunately.) This song was sung at Monday's Zoom song circle. My understanding of the discussion was that the U-Boat which sunk the Reuben James is the U-505 which was captured and now resides in the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry. This isn't true. The Reuben James was sunk by U-552. According to Wikipedia, U-505 first patrol was in 1942.
