Broadcast Friday 23 December 2022 10.00 BBC Radio 4 Woman's Hour Available on BBC Sounds for over a year. At 53 minutes. The fiddler and folk singer Bryony Griffith and singer, instrumentalist and percussive step dancer, Alice Jones joined forces and earlier this year they released an album of Yorkshire songs and folklore: “A year too late and a month too soon”. They join Krupa Padhy live in the studio to discuss the tradition and to perform a Yorkshire Christmas song, Early Pearly, again! Their version comes from the record Trans Pennine by Dave Hillery and Harry Boardman (Haley Paley) and a recording of Margaret Gardham - yes, Steve Gardham's Mum - on the Yorkshire Garland website. Sadly, their song is abruptly truncated after the introduction!
