      IVRY   by Patti Smith
I came across this performance via one of mySubstack accounts: Patti Smith singing her song ‘Ivry’ commemorating the death of French writer Antonin Artaud on March 4th 1948. Hopefully fits within the parameters for inclusion. Patti was in Paris a couple of weeks ago with an installation dedicated to Artaud and this clip is from a live performance at the Centre Pompidou. The Substack one is slightly better but I don’t want to bootleg it. This clip gives the flavour of the song:

Ivry

Ivry was the asylum where Artaud spent his last years. While I was listening to it I remembered the story about Artaud’s visit to Ireland which would make a droll film or song. Involving St Patrick’s walking stick or some nonsense, from memory. St Patrick’s day, Artaud’s death and the merry month of March. A nice hit…
