John MacKenzie Info about: Ron Geesin (17) RE: Ron Geesin 13 Apr 23

Long ago and faraway there was a club called the Dungeon Club in a pub called The Copper in Tower Bridge Road. It was run by Ian Grant and Cliff Aungier and it took place in a downstairs bar which had two sort of prison cells surrounded by bars on one side of the room, facing that was the bar, then there were a further set of steps going down to a lower cell like room off to one side. Well there was a piano in one of the barred cells which Ron proceeded to "undress" before performing a piece that I think he wrote specially which involved him playing the piano both on the keys and by plucking the exposed strings, he then shot down into the lower room, and started banging the stone floor with a pot lid (I think) while singing this song he had written. He did the piano downstairs room and back circuit a couple of times and I can honestly say I have never seen anything remotely like in in my 60 years of involvement with folk music.
