I'm travelling from Canada to England in a few days and would like to drop in on a couple of folk clubs while I'm there. I'm a (mostly) acapella singer doing a wide variety of material from trad to contemporary, so a singaround session would be great. But anything that isn't just instrumental tunes would interest me.
For London: Can anyone point me to a friendly folk club that will be meeting on June 18 or 19? Those are the third Sunday and Monday.
For York: Looking for something on June 12/13 or 15, which would be the second Mon/Tues and the third Thurs.
Also, I see that Jez Lowe is performing in York on June 11 at Poppleton Village Hall. I've Googled it, but I can't figure out where that is or how we would get there (we won't have a car). Google brings up Poppleton Centre, Poppleton Road Memorial Hall, and Bishopthorpe Village Hall. Any suggestions? I'm a big fan of Jez and would love to see him.
