The 9 volt battery may be OK but is it’s power getting to the pre-amp? The power is lileky switched on when you plug the lead into the guitar - there will be a switch built into the jack socket. These switches can become corroded and prevent the pre-amp from powering up. Certainly worth checking. A squirt of switch cleaner a quick scrape with some sort of abraisive may be all that’s required.
