I know you all have those moments when there is a verse on your mind and you can't pin it down.

Well. here's the thing. My Dad used to recite a little rhyme about the Hollyhock. When I was about 10 I did ask him to write it down, but, as is the way with all these things, heaven knows what happened to that piece of paper!

Now Hollyhocks have decided that they like our garden after all and have started to bloom profusely, prompting me to try and recall the rhyme. So far I have had no luck!

I've tried the Internet. There are some poems there but none of them are the one I'm looking for.

It starts something like, "Old Dame Hollyhock (tall/prim/straight?)
and goes on to say that she keeps the garden in order.

Any thoughts?

I would say it dates back to pre First World War.
